Svet-Moldavskaya and Svet-Moldavsky have reported that repeated injections of immature rabbit brain into guinea pigs prevented the development of allergic encephalomyelitis when the same animals were given active (adult rabbit brain) injections at a later date. From this observation they have proposed the existence in brain of two factors, one of which is responsible for the development of encephalomyelitis, the other for the development of acquired resistance against it. |
