Summary:THE work of Schlossberg and Sawyer 1 has established the fact that the reactivity of the sympatho adrenal system of an animal is involved in stress situations such as severe loss of blood. Indeed, vasoconstriction due to increased peripheral sympathetic tone and elevation of circulating catecholamines resulting from the stimulation of the adrenal medulla by the sympathetic centres are outstanding signs of hypovolemic hypotension. In experimental hæmorrhagic shock increased blood-levels of epinephrine and norepinephrine have most recently been reported by Greever and Watts 2 and Walker and co-workers 3,4 .
