Summary: | Serum from patients with a variety of cancers often (p = 70%) contains a characteristic electrophoretic form of alkaline phosphatase detectable by cellulose polyacetate electrophoresis. The lower prevalence of this electrophoretic form in presumably healthy individuals (p = 7%) and noncancer hospitalized patients (p = 30%) suggests that it may be useful as a diagnostic or monitory marker. |
