Description
Summary:Public criticism of health science policy has been increasing. Scientists should take this criticism seriously before it becomes accepted by the general public. A catalog of current criticism of health science policy is presented. Some forty-two specific points are summarized, broken down under the following three general categories: (1) health science research is not presently designed to help the sector of the public that pays for it; (2) the public should have greater control over, & protection from, health science research; (3) federal funding of training for health science research is an inappropriate use of tax funds. The scientific community should put together a complete & convincing defense of current policy & make changes to strengthen it where appropriate. AA.
