Summary:Performing under strain: Microcapsules arrayed on an elastomer substrate pumped out preloaded molecules upon mechanical stretching of the substrate as a result of a decrease in microcapsule volume. This technology could be applied to drug release, for example, from a flexible patch containing the drug through mechanical stimulation by opening and closing of the hand (see picture).
