Summary:Five analogs of thyroxin were tested for thyroxinlike activity on the basis of the Rana catesbiana tail fin assay procedure. Two of them, 3,5-diiodo-4-(3′,5′-diiodo-4-hydroxyphenoxy)-phenylpropionic acid and 3,5-diiodo-4-(3′,5′-diiodo-4-hydroxyphenoxy)-phenylbutyric acid, were by this test many times more potent than L-thyroxin; one of them, 3,5-diiodo-4-(3′,5′-dimethyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-phenylalanine, was slightly more potent than L-thyroxin.
