Summary: | The presence of a crystalline lattice was revealed from electron microscopic observations of the wall of each tube constituting the Kolmer's crystalloid in the human retina. The crystalline lattice consists of regular alternating dense and light bands with the periodicity of (.0–70 Å. The internal wall of the tube is mostly associated with a layer of ribosomal particles arranged concentrically in the profile. Within the matrix of the tube some components such as saccular structures and spherical bodies are often contained. |
