Summary: | INVESTIGATION of insect vectors of disease requires accurate information about their feeding habits and preferences. Mosquitoes, for example, serve as vectors for malaria, yellow fever, and the encephalitides. Each species or sub-species shows a varying degree of preference for man or other animals, and so it is most important to identify the host. Those Culicidae that do not favour man as host are not likely to be human disease vectors. |
