Description
Summary:THE inter-relationships between adrenal corticosteroids and lymphatic tissue have often been described. The involution of lymphatic tissue produced by adrenal corticosteroids can be related to different aspects of the growth of lymphatic tissue and to the metabolism of lymphocytes. The effects on growth of lymphatic tissue are a combination of lymphocytokaryorrhexis and the inhibition of mitosis 1 . Metabolic effects include inhibition of DNA synthesis 2,3 , RNA synthesis 3,4 , protein synthesis 3,5–7 and glucose utilization 7–9 , as well as producing changes in certain enzymes 10 .
