Assay of Chloramphenicol and Its Esters in Formulations

A method for the estimation of chloramphenicol and its esters in some pharmaceutical preparations is described.The method is based on measuring the violet color produced by the interaction of chloramphenicol with hydroxylamine and ferric chloride in an alcoholic medium.
