Simulation of hydraulic seals

Abstract Three mixed lubrication models of a reciprocating hydraulic rod seal are described: a steady-state elastic model, a transient elastic model, and a transient viscoelastic model. These models are used to simulate a U-cup rod seal utilized in an injection moulding application. Results characte...

Description
Summary:Abstract Three mixed lubrication models of a reciprocating hydraulic rod seal are described: a steady-state elastic model, a transient elastic model, and a transient viscoelastic model. These models are used to simulate a U-cup rod seal utilized in an injection moulding application. Results characterizing the leakage and friction force, as well as the detailed behaviour of the sealing zone, are presented.
