Summary: | Administered the group form of the Holtzman Ink Blot Technique and individual Make a Picture Story (MAPS) tests to 30 male undergraduate Ss. Holtzman records were scored for barrier definiteness, while MAPS test records were scored for distance between figures, proximity of figures to natural barriers, and type of social interaction expressed. MAPS test variables were analyzed as a function of barrier definiteness scores, revealing that: (1) high barrier Ss tended to place MAPS characters closer to each other than did low barrier Ss; (2) there was no relationship between barrier scores and willingness to construct interactions in open spaces; and (3) high barrier Ss expressed both more approach interactions and more overall incidents of interaction than did low barrier Ss.
