Comments on M. N. Hegde's work (Journal of Fluency Disorders, 1978, Mar, 5-71) are presented. Although not all of Hegde's work is supported, his avoidance of the theoretical controversy regarding fluency-based vs stuttering-based clinical strategies is praised. B. Annesser
