Summary: | Articles dealing with Russian aspect (see LLBA 16/2, 8202555, 8202628, 8202266, 8202637, 8202642, 8202298) are reviewed & the category of aspect is discussed within the framework of transitivity theory. The contributions are briefly outlined & a connection between the notion of transitivity & Russian aspect is found. Objective & subjective (pragmatic) transitivity features are distinguished. It is noted that the flexibility of the pragmatic features allows the manipulation of Russian aspectual forms. Transitivity & communicative function are claimed to be universal categories within which aspect operates. Z. Dubiel |
