Description
Summary:Some misconceptions about anthropological genetics contained in a study by Richard M. Bateman et al (see LLBA 24/4, 9008910 & 9008911) are discussed. It is argued that these authors have largely ignored the work of earlier multidisciplinary researchers. The use of "bootstrapping" as a computerized method of reconstituting an original distribution from samples used in the analysis is described. Several of the criticisms of Bateman et al of the work of L. L. Cavalli-Sforza et al (eg, "Genetic and Linguistic Evolution," Science, 1989, 244, 1128-1129) are refuted. 73 References. B.
