Description
Summary:A volume stemming from the "Malvern Workshop," a collaborative project that aims to lay the foundation for a new methodology in multilingual corpus linguistics, is introduced. The use of parallel corpora, ie, translations of common source texts into different languages, to identify correlations between words, their environments, & translation equivalents is described, along with the machine algorithms & dictionaries envisioned. Limitations of this "bottom up" approach, special problems caused by both rare & very common words, & the ambiguity of words are discussed. E. Emery
