Summary:The goal of this study was to systematize the available data on changes in the geographic range and current geographic distribution of the badger in the Komi Republic. The badger range in historical time (until the mid 20th century) was described on the basis of published data. We used the archives of the Institute of Biology of the Komi Scientific Center, Ural Division, Russian Academy of Sciences. The main method for collecting the material on the current distribution of the species (the late 20th and early 21st centuries) in the region was a questionnaire survey performed in 2000, 2001 and 2005.
