Summary: | The interconceptual organization of verbs & nouns was studied by examining the stability of organizations in three tasks (1) an unconstrained sort task, in which subjects sorted sets of 16 verbs or 16 nouns into clusters as they wanted; (2) a semantic sort task, in which subjects sorted sets of 16 verbs or 16 nouns into clusters based on meaning; (3) a script sort task, in which subjects sorted sets of 16 verbs or 16 nouns into clusters based on situations. Results show that only the clusters of nouns are affected by the different tasks & confirmed the hypothesis that there are functional & conceptual differences between nouns and verbs. 13 Tables, 21 References.
