Summary: | Immuno-inflammatory diseases like lupus are associated with premature atherosclerosis. With improved survival, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease has emerged as an important late complication of systemic lupus erythematosus. The burden of this co-morbidity in Asian patients is not fully known but is likely to be high. We review the literature available and draw attention to this oft overlooked problem. |
