Summary: | The initiative came to be called the International Health Partnership Plus (IHP+) and was a response to the problems associated with fragmented development assistance for health, top-down vertical disease-focused programmes, weakened ministries of health, and dysfunctional health systems. 24 developing countries and 29 "development partners" (covering bilateral donor agencies, the World Bank, UN agencies, the Global Fund, GAVI, and the Gates Foundation) subsequently signed a "global compact" to adhere to a set of principles and commitments, including an obligation to report annually on performance and progress. |
