Description
Summary:Because the pain was progressively worsening after admission, an emergency laparotomy was carried out to confirm the preoperative diagnosis. The coincidence of endometriosis and intussusception is even more rare with a few cases reported in the literature.2, 3 Intestinal endometriosis also demonstrates nonspecific clinical, laboratory, and radiographic features; as in this case, it may resemble the appearance of neoplasmas (e.g., adenoma, carci- noma, or lipoma), inflammatory disease (e.g., Crohn's disease), ischemic bowel disease, or infectious (e.g., tuberculosis) disease.4 In this case, it was strongly sug- gested that endometrioma findings including chronic fibrosis, inflammation, and the submucosal hemorrhage might serve a lead point for intussusception.
