Summary: | In the long-term, "evaluating" belongs to the lexicon of philosophical concepts. The problem of evaluation -- omnipresent and used for all sorts of ends in sur-modernity -- does not seem to exist in societies studied by social anthropologists. Absent or substituted. But the discipline, social anthropology in its productions, reveals an original form of evaluation which is the source of the phenomena studied. The "Grand Transformation" which is ongoing in the world of sur-modernity nurtures uncertainty. It engenders "new new worlds" which spread at high speed, become interwoven with what remains of the previous reality and expose their contemporaries to an ever-increasing " disorientation". The confrontation with otherness and new risks contributes to an erratic management of power and the multiplication of forms of evaluation which replace the former ideologies.
