1-Tb/s (10 \times107 Gb/s) Electronically Multiplexed Optical Signal Generation and WDM Transmission

We demonstrate the transmission of electronically multiplexed optical signals at a serial data rate of 107 Gb/s. Ten wavelength channels are modulated to provide 1-Tb/s total data capacity at a spectral efficiency of 0.7 bits/s/Hz (144-GHz channel spacing). A single-chip optical equalizer compensate...

Description
Summary:We demonstrate the transmission of electronically multiplexed optical signals at a serial data rate of 107 Gb/s. Ten wavelength channels are modulated to provide 1-Tb/s total data capacity at a spectral efficiency of 0.7 bits/s/Hz (144-GHz channel spacing). A single-chip optical equalizer compensates for the optical modulator bandwidth limitations for all wavelengths simultaneously, and the transmission over nonzero dispersion fiber is achieved in both a straight-line 400-km system and in a 1000-km recirculating loop
