Description
Summary:A direct simultaneous atomic absorption method for the determination of trace heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Tl, and Hg) in solid sea and river suspended matter and sorption concentrates has been suggested (without chemical preparation of the samples). Two stages of the preliminary fractional evaporation of the solid samples (at temperatures of 700–1000°C and 1500–2000°C) were used. The simultaneous atomization of both condensates was carried out in electrothermal atomizers including two evaporation zones. The approaches proposed make it possible to determine the volatile Hg and the less volatile Cd, Pb, and Tl at the level of the background concentration.
