Highlights ► We establish a functional unit targeting major components of the NVU. ► The entity shows an intact morphology of neurons, astrocytes and BBB property. ► This entity can be used in the injury derived from the vascular dysregulation. ► Rivastigmine exhibits neurovascular coupling in this model.
