Ultralinear transmission modulation: a new amplitude modulation coding for high efficiency fiber-optic transmissions
A new signal shape modulation which mitigates the effect of self-phase modulation (SPM) is proposed for long-haul amplified transmission systems. This approach aims to reduce the SPM-induced chirp as much as possible by an adapted tailoring of the signal shape. The signal shape is derived in the dis...

Summary: | A new signal shape modulation which mitigates the effect of self-phase modulation (SPM) is proposed for long-haul amplified transmission systems. This approach aims to reduce the SPM-induced chirp as much as possible by an adapted tailoring of the signal shape. The signal shape is derived in the dispersion-free case. We show that this approach is also valid for nonlinear propagation in dispersive optical fibers. |
