Amplitude-only and complex field measurements for characterizing radiated fields of mobile terminal antennas from a small number of samples
The capabilities of the Fourier transform and the spherical wave expansion-based techniques to determine the total radiated power and the radiation pattern of mobile phones from a relatively small number of amplitude-only and complex field values are compared. Several different simulation models of...

description | The capabilities of the Fourier transform and the spherical wave expansion-based techniques to determine the total radiated power and the radiation pattern of mobile phones from a relatively small number of amplitude-only and complex field values are compared. Several different simulation models of mobile phones beside a head phantom model in the frequency range 0.9-2.1 GHz are used as test cases. The results provide general guidelines for choosing a reasonable number of measurement directions for characterizing radiated fields of mobile phones. The results show that for a fixed, relatively small number of measurement directions, the complex field measurements provide lower uncertainty of the determination of the radiation pattern compared to the amplitude-only measurements. |
