Peculiarities of muscles and skeleton structure in Campiglossa plantaginis (Haliday, 1833) ovipositor (Diptera, Terthritidae) in association with larval mode of life

Sclerites and muscles of the ovipositor in the tephritid fly Campiglossa plantaginis (Haliday, 1833), with phytophagous larvae developing in inflorescences of Aster tripolium L. and other Asteraceae, were examined. Structural adaptations of the ovipositor, providing oviposition into different substr...

Description
Summary:Sclerites and muscles of the ovipositor in the tephritid fly Campiglossa plantaginis (Haliday, 1833), with phytophagous larvae developing in inflorescences of Aster tripolium L. and other Asteraceae, were examined. Structural adaptations of the ovipositor, providing oviposition into different substrates, are discussed in relation to different trophic specialization of larvae.
