Summary:Promising modern approaches to desalination of water with varying degrees of mineralization are analyzed. Experience with the operation of desalination units at the Saransk TÉTs-2 (Heat and Electric Power Plant), Ivanovo steam-gas units, and Kazan TÉTs-3 is described. These results are used as a basis for developing three kinds of water desalination units which combine different water-treatment technologies.
