Effect of liquid metal composition and cooling rate on the structure of alloys of the system Fe – Al

Results are presented for a study of ferroaluminum microstructure cooled at different rates, used for preparing aluminum-containing cast iron. It is established that the optimum structure is exhibited by alloy with 30 – 40% Al, solidified at a rate of about 180 K/min.
