Summary: | The temples of the Angkor region and their reliefs are some of the world's most outstanding works of art in stone Angkor Wat being the biggest and the most important. This temple is famous for the basreliefs in the galleries of the third enclosure. Owing to the fact that all the reliefs and decorated parts were carved directly in situ, and that the building materials used were laterite for substructure and sandstone for the visible parts, the temple walls that are exposed to weathering are now at alarming levels of damage. |
