Description
Summary:Mass-transfer rates and Henry's law constants of high molecular weight organic pollutants including hexachlorobenzene, PCB, chlordane, dieldrin, p,p'-DDE and dibutyl phthalate have been studied. Partition coefficients were measured at room temperature and maso-transfer coefficients were determined by monitoring the volatilization of a compound from a stirred solution. The results show the rapid volatilization of some high molecular weight organic compounds from distilled water and seawater solutions. The behaviour of the compounds were interpreted in terms of the Whitman resistance model of mass transfer across the air-water interface.
