Optical diagnostics of collective and non-linear effects in insulators during intense irradiation

Optical properties of silica glasses, silica-core fibers, sapphire and alumina under intense irradiation (103–108Gy/s) have been measured. It has been shown that the optical methods can be used for investigations of the electric charging and phase transitions under irradiation. The radiation-induced...

Description
Summary:Optical properties of silica glasses, silica-core fibers, sapphire and alumina under intense irradiation (103–108Gy/s) have been measured. It has been shown that the optical methods can be used for investigations of the electric charging and phase transitions under irradiation. The radiation-induced non-linear optical effects have been demonstrated. Mechanisms of the collective and non-linear effects are discussed.
