Summary: | Samples of ambient aerosol particles were collected from a Georgia, ussr, forest and analyzed for mass, elemental, crystalline and ionic species concentrations and size and composition of individual particles. Manganese was observed and attributed to a smelter 45 km away and over 90% of particul ate sulfur was attributed to man-made sources. Factor analysis and isentropi c air parcel trajectories were used in identifying sources. Minerals were the most abundant particles of diameters over 2.5 mm.
