Summary: | Polyaniline/silver oxide (PANI/Ag2O) nanocomposite was prepared successfully in aqueous and aqueous/nonaqueous media by the chemical polymerization of aniline using ammonium peroxydisulfate as an oxidant in the presence of hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC) as a steric stabilizer. The chemical structure, morphology, thermal stability and thermal degradation were studied by fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). FTIR spectrum analysis confirmed that the silver oxide nanoparticles were dispersed in the polymer matrix. The results indicate that the Ag2O, HPC and type of solution influence the properties of product. |
