Summary:Based on a coulometric approach, a method of quantitatively assessing the contributions of barrier and adhesive functions of a coating to its protectiveness is advanced. A criterion of the protective effect is considered, coatings based on polymer binders modified with surface-active fluorinated polymer additives are tested, and their service life is figured out.
