Summary: | The ohmic component R of an underground pipeline insulation resistance is estimated in terms of the number and size distribution of the insulation through defects; the dependence of R on the defect's shape is shown. Conditions and restrictions determining the practicability of treating R as a function of solely the total surface area of defects in the coating and its thickness are formulated. Any purely theoretical model of the insulation defectiveness is shown to be impracticable. |
