Summary:This paper examines the effect of milling on the morphology and properties of ultrafine ZrO 2 + 3 wt % MgO powder and on the microstructure and strength of the ceramics produced from it. Low-energy milling enables a marked decrease in the degree of aggregation of the powder, which in turn reduces the grain size and increases the density and strength of the ceramics.
