Summary: | As the US economy has turned downward, many have seen how housing markets have been impacted and communities have been forgotten. Even though many argue that the economy is now recovering, one still wonders whether the housing market is also recovering. The economy has impacted the availability of both affordable single-family and multifamily housing while discouraging the development and revitalization of communities. But the question is whether the nation's leaders also understand. The housing industry must continue to find creative financing structures to develop and rebuild housing and its surrounding communities. Lawyers must be a viable component of the voice for affordable housing and community development. It is necessary for the Forum on Affordable Housing & Community Development Law to be a part of the discussions and solutions for housing and community development. |
