Description
Summary:This publication presents the methodology and examples of conducting basic social cost-benefit appraisals of drinking water interventions in poor countries. The rationale for this volume stems from the reality that while economic evaluations are necessary to successfully compete for funding for drinking water systems, simple comparisons of the costs of community water supply systems tend to grossly underestimate the wider social benefits these systems can provide, especially smallscale interventions.
