Summary:This article highlights some of the significant changes in state tax incentives for the film and entertainment industry in selected states. Examples of the approaches taken by lawmakers to promote the positive image of their state and to protect the state's image from being portrayed in a negative manner are cited. A summary of each state's approach in providing incentives, as well as contact information of the state film office, is provided. Additionally, information provided in this article should be of interest to the following groups: decision makers in the film industry, industry legal and financial advisors, and those responsible for making state tax policy decisions.
