Description
Summary:The Journal of Chinese Human Resource Management is one of the newer outlets for scholarly research in human resources. Its focus is timely; China is poised to become the world's largest economy by mid-century. Two articles in the journal's most recent volume provide a sense of the dynamic nature of HR in China. According to Yue Qu and Fang Cai of the Institute of Population and Labor Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chinese economic growth has been fueled in part by an unlimited supply of rural surplus labor. The second article comprises an interview with Wayne Chen, managing director of Hay Group in China. When asked to discuss the focus of Hay Group's Practice in China, Chen reported that much of their work centers on organization and talent development. An ongoing challenge for HR leaders in China is familiarizing C-suite executives with state of the art HR practices.
