Summary: | Established in 1516, the Royal Mail has been put on the market on October 11, 2013, as one of the largest British privatization transaction. Since the 1980s, an operation which even Margaret Thatcher had not dare to proceed, denying the image of the Queen featured on postage escapes to public power. In 2000, the Royal Mail became a limited company then the British postal market was fully liberalized on January 1, 2006, leading to the closure of 2,500 post offices and job reductions. The UK has made history by opening up its market to competition 4 years before the entry into the third Postal Directive (Directive 2008/06 / EC 1). |
