Summary: | A new method for evaluating the quality parameters, in particular impact fracture toughness, is described. The method is based on the effect of a high-speed water jet on the surface of the inspected object, with the information features being the geometrical characteristics of the resultant hydraulic cavity. Experimental results demonstrating the possibilities of evaluation of the homogeneity of the material of the welded joint are presented. The relationship between the impact toughness of the material of the welded joint and the depth of the hydraulic cavity formed as a result of the effect of the water jet is discussed. |
