Summary:Once earthworks commenced on site, sourcing of the materials required for construction was a high priority. It was then discovered that, besides the fact that bentonite would be particularly uneconomical for the quantities that were required, it could also not be sourced locally in bulk. The design was thus changed to incorporate GCLs in the primary composite liner, while at the same time maintaining the thickness of the primary composite.
