Summary:One of the key objectives of Obamacare in the US was to reduce the number of people without health insurance by encouraging states to expand the Medicaid government program and individuals with low incomes to ensure the new regulated insurance markets via subsidies. The bet is won in part because the number of uninsured has declined from 48.6 million in 2010 to 36 million in 2014. But a number of threats to the future of this law and its expected effects have increased.
