Summary: | The global boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel -- which, because of the Jewish state's Palestinian policies, pushes to blacklist Israeli firms and universities as well as foreign companies working in the country -- has been seen as a fringe movement. But it is moving mainstream, with recent construction impacts. BDS proponents claimed a victory in January, when Ireland's CRH Group, the world's third-largest building-products maker, sold a 25% stake in Israel's leading cement firm. CRH denied political motivation, claiming to an Israeli journal concern over government reform of Israel's cement market. |
