Summary: | Pakistan is currently classified as having a concentrated epidemic among high risk groups particularly injecting drug users (IDUs). In the recent years the country has witnessed a shift in the epidemiological trends of the disease with a particularly rapid increase in HIV prevalence being noted in the high risk groups particularly the Injecting Drug Users and now in the Male Sex Workers. The Government of Pakistan is fully cognizant of the gravity of the situation and committed to preventing the further spread of the infection from the high risk groups into the general population. |
