Summary:On Dec. 29, 1970, Richard Nixon signed into law legislation that created one of the most consequential and controversial agencies in our government - the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Since its creation, OSHA has been maligned, praised and much more for its influence in the day-to-day operations of companies throughout the United States. According to the National Association of Manufacturers and the Government Accountability Office, the previous four administrations averaged 1.6 major rules from DOL annually.
