Description
Summary:In the run-up to the Warsaw NATO summit, expectations are rising that it will address the rapidly multiplying threats to European security. Providing a definitive response to all of them by the Alliance alone is impossible, however, because of NATO's limitations. Instead, the Alliance should adopt a tailored approach. It should focus on security challenges, which it can counter as the leading actor, such as Russia's aggressive political-military posturing. At the same time, it should provide support and act as a partner to other organisations and formats that may be better suited to tackle different security threats, such as terrorism, mass migration or organised international crime. This is the main message of the PISM Report "NATO and the Future of Peace in Europe" prepared in cooperation with the Centre for Eastern Studies (OSW).
